    About Normcore Coffee

    Our History

    Normcore Coffee began its journey in 2016 in Sydney, Australia. From the outset, the brand steadily expanded across the Australian market, operating three offline stores alongside an online shop and an in-house roastery. Over the years, Normcore Coffee has established itself as one of the leading specialty coffee destinations not only in Sydney, but nationwide.


    From early on, Normcore was among the first cafés in Australia to introduce exceptional coffees such as competition lots, geishas, and other rare varieties to the broader market. Located in vibrant, high-traffic areas such as the Sydney CBD, Normcore became known for serving consistently high-quality espresso and carefully brewed filter coffee. This commitment to quality was reflected in long-standing customer trust, with Google review ratings consistently maintained at 4.7–4.8 out of 5, placing Normcore among the top-ranked coffee shops in Australia.


    In 2022, Normcore Coffee took its first step beyond Australia, launching its initial overseas experience in the Korean market. This expansion was followed by the introduction of MTSPACE COFFEE, a roasting-focused B2B brand designed to deepen Normcore’s expertise and presence within the professional coffee sector. Together, these milestones marked a meaningful evolution, from a cafe-led brand to one grounded in craftsmanship, sourcing, and roasting excellence.


    Now, as Normcore celebrates its 10th anniversary, Normcore Coffee 2.0 is officially introduced. This new chapter represents more than a refreshed concept; it signals a renewed focus on B2C customers and a deeper exploration of the relationship between coffee and people.

    Normcore Coffee 2.0 is about rethinking what great coffee can mean in a changing world. Built on a decade of experience, experimentation, and trust, the brand moves forward with a refined philosophy, one that honours its past while creating space for new ideas, new connections, and more meaningful coffee experiences in the years ahead.

Through consistency, precision, and care at every stage, we aim to deliver coffee experiences that grow more meaningful over time.

    About the founder, Chanho Hong

     

    Chanho, one of the co-founders of Normcore Coffee and a well-known coffee professional in the industry, has been in the industry since 2009, with experience in green coffee, roasting, pro barista, competitions, and many coffee businesses. Also, Chanho represented Australia and Aussie coffees in the Korean market for years, even co-working with the Australian Embassy.


    Now, with all the knowledge and experience, Chanho brings Normcore Coffee into a new chapter with a new paradigm for the future of specialty coffee.
